Once upon a time in May …
On my way back to home from office, I heard the radio announcer said that DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL were coming to town! They’re gonna rock Ponds Teen Concert 2010! I couldn’t be any happier than that news! Hearing about this, I tweeted about it, hoping I could find a partner to accompany me to the concert. My colleague replied, she wanted to go but apparently her mom came to visit her so she changed her mind (though she wanted to go so badly). Then, Jen replied me! She said she’ll try to find free tickets for us xD Yay *happy happy*
The Big Day – 29 May 2010
We didn’t know the actual time for the show. I read in a magazine the concert opened at 16.00. We’re sure that DC will be in the last order. So we left at 16 from Jen’s home. Arrived at Senayan around 1730. It was so packed inside. We hardly found an empty parking space. And there’re a lot of ABG there :| It’s like a living HELL for me!!!
They were on break when we got there. The show started again around 18.30, the first band to appear is Indonesian Rock band, KOTAK. We watched from afar, but we could see them from the big screen B-). It was hard to access twitter / 4sq there even though it’s an open space. Music OK, Sound OK. They performed 5 songs.
Next band, The Super Insurgent Group of Intemperance Talent (aka THE SIGIT) with their fanbased called Insurgent Army (LOL). Music = OK, Sound = couldn’t hear clearly due to the loud music. The Music > The sound. Booo~~ And I didn’t enjoy it bcos it’s not my type of music. Also performed 5 songs. And not so much interaction with the fans.
MCs were talking about random things. Time flew so long ~ give me my Dashboard!
Changcuters was next. They performed 7 songs. Music OK, Sound? Same like previous band. Cannot hear the Tria’s’ voice so clearly. So bored! Decided to sit during their performance.
Last local band to perform, NIDJI. Again, cannot hear Giring’s voice so clearly. Unlike Kotak’ vocalist. They performed their hit singles like “ku takkan bisa”, “Laskar Pelangi”, etc. Quite enjoying the performance.
Andddd…. a very long break because DC crew was busy setting up their instruments. The MCs had no idea who Dashboard Confessional is. (-.-; ) And they made a pun from Dashboard name. After 20mins talking nonsense, finally the guys showed up at 21.30
The audiences started to stand up and got closer to the stage. I took my camera and ready to shoot B-) Learning from my mistake in Super Junior concert, I brought my camera with me & I didn’t focus on the stage, I focus on the big screen B-)
Chris Carabba and the band entered the stage!! The crowd started screaming. “Don’t Wait” was the first song they performed. I’m glad the audio problem didn’t seem to appear during DC performances. ALL GOOD!
I could hear Chris’ voice so clearly!! His voice is amazing!! T_T *terharu* The band was also great! Chris wasn’t only play his acoustic guitar but also played piano in Belle of The Blvd. and other songs. TOP BGT! REALLY REALLY TOP BGT! 20 thumbs up! :p
And they didn’t just play 7 songs but 18 SONGS!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?? It’s like playing an entire album = 3/4 of concert!! AND IT’S FREE. I didn’t pay the entrance tix thanks to JEN! :D
OMG!! I couldn’t believe I could see CHRIS CARABBA LIVE, My long-time-emo-hero!!! I never imagine they’d come to Jakarta and held a concert here. And that nite felt so unreal! It’s as unreal as my SuJu concert experience. I’ve been waiting for a time like this since 10 years ago. I’ve been a fan of Dashboard Confessional since junior high school (around 1999-2000). They performed mostly old songs like Screaming Infidelities, The places that you’ve come to fear the most, and Hands down, I know exactly the songs and follow Chris’ to sing-a-long B-) They also performed new songs from Alter The Ending and cover songs of Weezer’s El Scorcho & Bryan Adams Summer of 69′ (Most rock bands I know always perform this song! It’s like an anthem to them, isn’t it?).
I thought they’re gonna end the show after ‘Vindicated’ so we decided to leave since it’s already late. But when we were walking, we heard screaming and the band was back on stage! T_T They played Stolen, Summer of 69, and Hands Down.
Overall I was really satisfied with the concert! And if they would come again, I will definitely buy the ticket!! xD
Thank you so much, Jen for the ticket and also my Mii for driving & accompanying us :D *big grin*
